Celebrity Big Brother US (Official Site) - Watch on CBS

UPDATE: Guys, I'm currently working on this futher, editing it, adding bits that have been kindly suggested in the comments and making pa few amends to any errors. If you happen to see anymore let me know!
Hey guys, I know its been a tough few days on this subreddit since the anniversary of Mac's death. I'm sure - like me - you've been jammin' to his tunes a lot while we pay our respects. I know there have already been posts to Mac's discography that you can download. I wanted to create a written format of his music from the very beginning to the very end. I've created this for those that wanna follow Mac's journey - almost like a biography. Its pretty awesome hearing the progression of his music throughout time. So, here, I have attempted to write an accurate timeline for everyone and for new fans that want to get stuck in. I've probably made some errors or missed a few things so feel free to point them out. Also, in some of his mixtape he has the same song twice so I've made it so there's only one version of the song - so some mixtapes may look incomplete! Big love.

[Game Preview] Week 9 - Philadelphia Eagles(4-4) vs. Chicago Bears (3-4)

Philadelphia Eagles (4-4) vs Chicago Bears(3-4)
The Eagles return to the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field Sunday after salvaging one win on their 3 game road trip taking care of business against the Buffalo Bills last week. They welcome the Chicago Bears to town in a rematch of last years NFC wildcard round and the second matchup of the Battle of Reid’s Bastards. where the Eagles squeaked out a win after the double doink missed field goal by Cody Parkey. The Eagles offense has struggled this season, but found a rhythm last week against a tough Bills defense by pounded it on the ground. They will need to do the same this week to slow out the always disruptive Khalil Mack. Part of that ground attack will be former Bear Jordan Howard who will look for some revenge on his former team after he was traded to Philadelphia in the offseason. In the passing game, the Eagles may get a boost with the return of the speedy Desaen Jackson who hasn’t played since week 1 where he put up 152 yards and 2 TDs in the season opener. Jackson was a limited participant this week, and is listed as questionable, but if he returns to the lineup it will be an immediate upgrade in the receiving corp giving Wentz a speedy deep threat and a guy with excellent hands who is always dangerous in space. On the defensive side, the Eagles will try to limit the Bears ground game and force Mitchell Trubkisky to beat him with his arm, something he has struggled with this season. Cox and Graham seemed to find their grove last week against the Bills and new Eagle Genard Avery will look to make and impact as well. Avonte Maddox will also resume his duties in the slot after missing the last three games with a neck injury. If the Eagles can get their offense going and get some turnovers on defense it should lead to an Eagle victory at the Linc.

Eagles 16 - Bears 15
In the battle of Reid’s Bastards, Pederson’s team struck first as the Eagles scored on a Jake Elliott field goal on the opening possession. The scoring went silent until a Nick Foles INT set up a FG for the Bears to bring the score to a tie, the Bears added another field to take the Bears into halftime up 6-3. The Eagles took the lead on their first possession of the second half with a Dallas Goedert TD before the Bears answered with a TD and FG of their own to take a 15-10 lead. The Philadelphia Eagles needed help to get into the playoffs, and Chicago provided it. The Eagles repaid them by knocking off the number defense for the second year in a row in the playoffs to send the Bears home. Foles lead the Eagles offense down field and scored a Golden Tate TD with under a minute to go in the game. The Bears marched down the field with a chance to answer and come away with the win on a last second field. Pederson iced Parkey on his first attempt when he lined up for his second shot. He lined up and kicked it with a slightly low trajectory, just low enough for the pinky of Trayvon Hester alter the flight and cause a double doink off the upright and crossbar. The Philadelphia Eagles needed help to get into the playoffs, and Chicago provided it. The Eagles repaid them by sending them home in the wildcard round as Pederson came out victorious in the Battle of Reid’s bastards.

Recap from Last Week’s Games.
Video Have spending a week churning on 37-10 loss to the Cowboys, the Eagles responded with a 31-13 win over the Bills. The Eagles defense set the tone and the Eagles pounded the ball on the ground on the windy New York afternoon. The Eagles took control by scoring touchdowns 83 seconds apart spanning halftime to build a 17-7 lead. Graham's forced fumble of quarterback Josh Allen at Buffalo's 24 led to Carson Wentz hitting Dallas Goedert for a 5-yard touchdown catch with 25 seconds left in the second quarter. On the second snap from scrimmage in the third quarter, Sanders followed Howard's block of linebacker Matt Milano in bursting up the left sideline. The second-round draft pick celebrated his touchdown by leaping into a group of Eagles fans in the northeast corner of the endzone's stands. After the Bills answered with a Devin Singletary score on a 28-yard catch on Buffalo's next possession, the Eagles responded with Wentz overseeing a six-play, 68-yard touchdown drive capped by Boston Scott's 4-yard touchdown run. The Eagles finished with 218 yards on the ground their highest total in a game since 2014.
Video Three straight punts preceded Piñeiro's 33-yard field goal hitting the right upright. On the Chargers' ensuing drive, Fuller intercepted Philip Rivers and returned it to the Chargers' four-yard line, but the offense struggled to gain a yard, leading to Piñeiro making a 27-yard kick. Chicago reached Los Angeles' nine-yard line but only reached their seven; Piñeiro kicked a 25-yard field goal. The Chargers answered with a four-play, 75-yard drive that ended with Melvin Gordon's four-yard touchdown run. Down by one, the Bears reached the Chargers' five-yard line with help from Montgomery's 55-yard run, but further red zone woes persisted, leading to Piñeiro giving his team the 9–7 lead on a 19-yard kick. To start the second half, the Bears mounted an 11-play, 75-yard series that included eight rushes as Montgomery recorded a four-yard score. Chase McLaughlin made a 20-yard field goal to end the third quarter. Early in the final period, Trubisky was intercepted by Casey Hayward, but McLaughlin's 42-yard kick was wide right; the Chargers regained possession on the next series after Trubisky lost a fumble on his 26-yard line. The takeaway led to Rivers' go-ahead score to Austin Ekeler. After two drives ending with punts, the Bears got the ball back on their 35 with 1:33 remaining in the game. Although Trubisky led the Bears to the Chargers' 21, Nagy called to kneel to run down the clock and set up Piñeiro's potential game-winning 41-yard kick. The kick went wide left as time expired,] marking the Bears' first three-game losing streak under Nagy.

Stats to Know
Bears’ Play Action Passing
In 2019, Mitchell Trubisky is averaging a higher Yards Per Attempt and slightly higher Completion % via Play Action than not (6.0 vs. 5.5 & 65.6% vs. 64.4%). Trubisky is only using Play Action 16.7% of dropbacks, which is 2nd-lowest of all QBs. It’s kind-of tough to threaten a team with Play Action when your running game is playing so relatively poorly (no Bears RB is better than 71st in RB Yards After Contact or 62nd in Yards Per Attempt. The best a Bears RB fares in overall Offensive PFF Grade is 58th.
Matchups to Watch
Bears Defensive Line vs Eagles Offensive Line… or Andre Dillard
Everyone who covers the Eagles is quick to point out the likely matchup between Khalil Mack and Andre Dillard for good reason. While the Bears will move Mack all over the defensive front, he will likely get the bulk of his snaps across from the Eagles rookie tackle. Dillard has shown steady improvement since taking over for the injured Jason Peters. He is a great athlete at the position and moves very well for a man his size. Additionally, he’s pretty good in the run game despite the common criticism of him in that area in the pre-draft process. One area of his game that Dillard must improve, which will take his game to greater heights, his is ability to handle power rushes and to anchor. Right now, that ability is somewhat limited, likely due to his college coaching and competition. In the PAC-12, Dillard didn’t face the quality of rushers a lot of other prospects get to face in the Power 5 conferences; additionally, he wasn’t asked to do a variety of pass blocking sets in the scheme Washington State runs. Khalil Mack makes life difficult for All-Pro Offensive Linemen putting Dillard under the microscope on Sunday. Mack isn’t the only good player on this defensive front. The Eagles will catch a break with stud IDL Akiem Hicks on IR but the Bears still have Eddie Goldman with other effective rotational linemen behind him. Leonard Floyd has also emerged as a quality EDGE opposite Mack. Chuck Pagano isn’t afraid to bring the athletic linebackers they have on blitzes either. While this Bears defense isn’t producing turnovers at the insane rate they did last year, this is still a stout defensive front that has kept the team in games. They haven’t let the team down this year. This is a significant matchup for the Eagles given the quality of the opposition and their own offensive struggles. Can Dillard quickly rise to the occasion? How do the Eagles game plan, or alter what they’ve done, to account for Mack?
Bears Defense vs. Eagles Newly Dated Offensive Game Plan
Listen, running 40 times per game and averaging 5 YPC in the process is great to watch since we get to see the soul taken from our opponent. This happened last week against the Bills, especially on the 8 minute drive the Eagles had to effectively end the game. The issue with the philosophy is it’s normally an inefficient and ineffective way to win football games. Since the Eagles Super Bowl season, they have become more run oriented, with that shift occurring sharply this year. Part of the reason is due to injury; Desean Jackson figured to be a large part of the Eagles attack and can’t when he is injured. Another reason is due to players underperforming expectations. Alshon Jeffery is a solid receiver, but Nelson Agholor has remained the general liability he’s always been while somehow regressing and Mack Hollins is basically useless. Don’t even get my started with whatever is going on with JJAW. The Eagles are getting nothing from their WRs and the offensive coaching staff isn’t doing a good enough job scheming an offensive attack while suffering from roster construction issues. The Eagles are currently the 17th best offense by DVOA – 19th rushing, 14th passing. That’s not going to get it done for this team. The Eagles problems from 2018 have continued into 2019 while getting slightly worse. This is a Bears defense that is 7th in DVOA. This is a perfectly winnable game for the Eagles but their offensive struggles could keep this game too close for comfort. This is a long term problem for the Eagles this season and one that could have ramifications Sunday. Against a tough Bills defense, on the road, and in poor weather conditions, the coaches had a good game plan on offense that lead to the win. That’s not something the Eagles have consistently had this year. Part of the turnaround the Eagles need to have rests on the offenses ability to improve; improving the struggling passing game would work wonders for this team. The Eagles will likely have Desean Jackson back on Sunday. How effective he’ll be and what that means for the Eagles offense is huge. Ultimately, it’s a coaching and player execution problem above all else. Wentz hasn’t been the problem this year, which will aid in the turn around.
Bears Offensive Line vs Eagles Defensive Front
It has been slow-going for the Eagles defensive front on the season but it appears that this unit is starting to become a more effective group. The Bears offensive line is decent but isn’t playing at the level it has previously. Furthermore, their best offensive lineman, Kyle Long, is done for the season with injury. Fletcher Cox is fresh off a strong performance and appears to be rounding into form; the effectiveness of the Eagles pass rush rests on Cox given his dynamic ability. Brandon Graham also appears to be returning to a move effective form after notching a sack and forcing a key fumble last week in Buffalo. Derek Barnett has put together consecutive good performances which the Eagles really need. Prior to the trade deadline, the Eagles added Genard Avery via trade with the Browns. While Avery has been a healthy scratch this season, his play last year has shown him to be a more effective day 3 rusher than Shareef Miller has been for the Eagles in 2019 – not great. Avery is a pure pass rusher, though undersized. In Gregg Williams scheme, Avery was a good rotational rusher, which is where he thrives. Avery was a bit miscast under Steve Wilks this season since Avery isn’t effective dropping into coverage and playing in space. I don’t understand why coaches like Wilks don’t adapt their scheme to fit their personnel but what do I know? Either way, the Eagles still have issues in pass coverage. What is the best way to hide that? That’s right, pass rush. The Eagles still have a good defensive line that is slowly getting better each week. They face a QB that is a mess all around and an offensive line that isn’t as good as it needs to be to make up the difference. Pressure can force QBs into making mistakes; this is huge against Trubisky, who makes mistakes when he isn’t under pressure.
Bears Passing Offense vs Eagles Passing Defense
For the second consecutive week, the Eagles will face a QB that is a better RB than he is QB. The Eagles secondary has made fewer mistakes with the return of the swag-tastic Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby but “fewer” is deceiving. Simply put, the Eagles are up against another middling to bad offense and a passing attack this week that they need to take advantage of. The biggest issue they face this week are the Bears receiving options. Allen Robinson is a very good receiver and easily the best receiver Philly has seen since Amari Cooper. Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, and Tarik Cohen are all playmakers in their own right. This is a deeper group of weapons the Bears have to work with than Josh Allen has. It’s just the QB is considerably worse with an offensive scheme that has regressed mightily. The Bears offense is ranked 28th by DVOA – 21st passing, 27th rushing – and it shows when you watch them. Allen Robinson is really the only player Trubisky can seem to get the ball to and he regularly struggles with that. The Eagles secondary was “better” against the Bills… but not really. Allen had issues locating open receivers for various reasons (pressure, general inability) that left points on the field for their offense. The Eagles still haven’t cleaned up a lot of the mistakes that regularly plague them. Their opponent this week may afford them the opportunity to skirt disaster again but all it takes is one mistake to cost them the game. The Eagles aren’t in a position to give up games against teams they should beat so every possession matters. The defense, while struggling, should be able to handle what the Bears will throw their way. More consistent execution from the players and coaches would work wonders here. Keep the Bears in a hole – force their offense to chase. Play and coach smart.

Verifying Voracity of Stretch Goal Promises

Hey again guys, Bootcha here.
So one of the things I'm looking into are the stretch goals. Specifically, what is said in those stretch goals constitutes a promise made. I've gone through the stretch goals several times over several sittings, and I've come up with what I feel is a fair and accurate list and count of the promises made for those stretch goals. The intention of this research, is to determine what promises were made, in order to open the discussion of whether or not these constitute a "bare-minimum" feature list in any Minimum Viable Product that may ship claiming fulfilling of all promises.
The stretch goals can be found here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals
But like last time, I'd like to open this list and research up to you guys. It's possible I may have missed a promise, or I've added one where one of the specific same already existed.
The criteria for a stretch goal promise is thus: 1) Enhancement to the development of the game 2) Expansion of content either in game, or via media 3) Improvement to existing or future content 4) Picture of a bear 5) All of the above has to be cited within the text of the stretch goal funding page sections, content from the Letter from the Chairman or elsewhere is not applicable.
Sadly, I have found no example of #4.
The promises themselves, I have divided between types: Media, Game Mechanic, Game Production, Spaceship, Flair, Location, and Item.
The fulfillment of these promises fall into three states: Yes, No, and Technically. Yes means the promise has been fulfilled completely (art assets, mechanics, production, etc) and backers who have paid (in the case of spaceships) for it have full access to it. No means the promise has not been fulfilled in part or whole. Technically means one of two things: Either the promise was fulfilled long ago but functionally was removed and no longer accessible to backers, or implementation of the fulfilled promise is only in part (such as mocap being shot, but not actually in the game yet).
What I am looking for is feedback and corrections with evidence.

$23,000,000 Xi’an Scout Unlocked! The Khartu is the light attack craft of the Xi’An military. Contrary to Human ship design, the Khartu doesn’t have a traditional main thruster, instead featuring an array of maneuvering thrusters on articulated rigs. This design allows for incredible agility, making them the bane of UEE pilots, who bestowed the nickname ‘Quark’ because when all of the thrusters are firing, the ship looks like a spark flying through space. The Xi’an Aopoa corporation also manufactures an export model, the Khartu-al, for sale to human civilians as a dedicated scout/explorer. The export model features the same Xi’an maneuvering rig, but control surfaces modified for human use and a more limited armament. (Designer: Aopoa) - 1 Promise, Spaceship - Yes
$24,000,000 Public Transportation System – Need to get from one place to another but don’t have a starship? We’re building a galactic transportation system. With this stretch goal, we’ll expand this system: star liners, long range transports, charter ships and flyable shuttles! - 1 Promise, Mechanic - No
$25,000,000 Enhanced Alpha – We will use additional funding to build a wider alpha test than we had originally intended for the first phase of Star Citizen’s launch. The initial plan was to first launch servers in North America and then expand to areas such as Europe and Australia to decrease latency in these areas, perfecting the game as we improve the experience around the world. This funding will allow us to invest in a wider infrastructure for our early testing, spinning up remote servers earlier. Hitting this goal will also allow us to increase the number of remaining alpha slots. Extra alpha slots not only means more Star Citizens will travel the ‘verse at launch, but that we will receive more feedback and more stress testing. This in turn will allow us to better balance and enhance the Star Citizen experience! - 1 Promise, Game-Production - Yes
$26,000,000 Enhanced Capital Ship Systems – In addition to the command and control systems we’ve already outlined, we’re going to expand capital ship functions! Lead a damage control team to fight fires and repair key systems during battle, control internal bulkheads to slow boarders and man a number of consoles, like navigation and engineering, that will make commanding a capital ship feel even more immersive. - 1 Promise, Mechanic - No
$27,000,000 Banu Merchantman Unlocked – Banu traders are renowed for their the design team... - 1 Promise, Spaceship - No
$28,000,000 New Starter Ship – The team at Consolidated Outland has decided to take Roberts Space Industries head on - 1 Promise, Spaceship - Yes
$29,000,000 Enhanced Mission Design for Squadron 42 – The team at Foundry 42 has big plans to enhance fidelity. - 1 Promise, Game-Production - No
$30,000,000 Origin 890 JUMP – The rumors are true: Origin Jumpworks has a larger ship in the works! - 1 Promise, Spaceship - No
$31,000,000 RSI Orion – Roberts Space Industries’ goal has always been to make the stars available to individual Citizens. Now, with the RSI Orion mining platform, RSI is letting individuals take over a process formerly controlled by megacorporations. The Orion’s features include high-grade turret-mounted tractor beam arrays, durable exterior-accessible ‘saddlebags’ for mineral storage and a cabin designed by the team that brought you the Aurora and Constellation! - 1 Promise, Spaceship - No
$32,000,000 Aegis Surveyor – The Surveyor, from noted military contractor Aegis, is an industrial-quality salvage ship. Equipped with a reinforced cargo bay, a long-range jump drive and launch pods for unmanned drones, the Surveyor is an ideal ship for taking advantage of deep space wrecks. Tractor beams, floodlights, scanner options and docking ports round out the tool chest on this capable, utilitarian spacecraft. - 1 Promise, Spaceship - Yes (THIS IS THE RECLAIMER)
$33,000,000 Anvil Carrack – The Anvil Carrack has been the vanguard of every UEE exploration effort in recent years. Featuring reinforced fuel tanks for long-duration flight, a highly advanced jump drive array and a dedicated computer core room that allows it to put the maximum processing power into jump charting operations. Originally a military exclusive, the Carrack is now available for civilian use as a pathfinder spacecraft. Features on-board accommodations to allow for truly self-sufficient flight, including crew medical and repair facilities, and a mapping-oriented sensor suite capable of always charting a route home! - 1 Promise, Spaceship - No
$34,000,000 MISC Hull C (Discreet) – Scaling from small “box trucks” to massive supertankers, the MISC range of cargo hulls (A-D) are the standard goods transporter in human space. Extremely configurable, MISC Hulls can be adapted for most any type of transport job: from standard bulk shipping on the patrolled spacelanes to armored cargo hauling on the frontier. While these pre-configured hulls are primarily used for legitimate purposes, the MISC Hull Cs have recently become the favorite for criminals who modify the ship with advanced sensor shadow technology, quick-decompress holds and a variety of hidden compartments without modifying the ship’s body so it will appear to onlookers as standard everyday transports. - 1 Promise, Spaceship - No (THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS THE CURRENT HULL SERIES SOLD)
$35,000,000 Drake Herald – Knowledge is power, and one of the most valuable commodities is pure information: the 1s and 0s behind everything from UEC ledgers to Citizenship ratings. Whether it’s colonists struggling to stay in contact with the UEE’s central worlds or criminals trading in illicit data, there will always be a need to securely move data. The Drake Herald, small, armored ship, is designed to fit that need and safely get that information from Point A to Point B. Featuring a powerful central engine (for high speed transit and generating the power needed for effective data encryption/containment), advanced encryption software and an armored computer core, the Herald is unique among personal spacecraft in that it is designed to be easily ‘cleaned’ when in danger of capture. The Herald includes an array of heavy duty internal options for data protection, including redundant power subsystems and EMP shielding, and a high-powered broadcast array for data transmission. - 2 Promises, Spaceship, Mechanic - Yes, No
$36,000,000 Tamsa System – Located near the fringe of Banu space, - 1 Promise, Location - No
$37,000,000 Tanga System – At the heart of an unusual rectangular planetary nebula (see reference), - 1 Promise, Location - No
$38,000,000 Cano System is home to a G-Type Main Sequence Star that’s almost identical to Earth’s. - 1 Promise, Location - No
$39,000,000 UDS-2943-01-22 System – Breaking news: UEE astrophysicists will have one hell of a view! - 1 Promise, Location - No
$40,000,000 Kabal System – The discovery of a new system is always an exciting time. Oretani System – Oretani was just one of many systems that were being discovered... - 2 Promises, Location, Location - No, No
$41,000,000 Procedural Generation R&D Team – This stretch goal will allocate funding for Cloud Imperium to develop procedural generation technology for future iterations of Star Citizen. Advanced procedural generation will be necessary for creating entire planets worth of exploration and development content. A special strike team of procedural generation-oriented developers will be assembled to make this technology a reality. - 1 Promise, Game-Production - Yes
$42,000,000 Updated Observist Guide – Additional funding from the $42 million level will go to expanding the website area of the Galactapedia: expect to see holographic ships, items and navigation interface in 3D! Imagine admiring your ships or planning your loadouts right here at the RSI website. Explorer-class mobiGlas Rig – Every player who backs before we hit $42 million will start the game with their own, visually distinctive mobiGlas “ExoGlas” rig which can be used to access the Observist at any time. I’ve charged the mobiGlas team with a very difficult task: creating a realistic interface that will help keep your affairs in order in an expansive galaxy that we hope players will expand in unknown directions. It’s almost like building our own in fiction operating system for an imagined future, and it’s very different task than building spaceships. This backer-exclusive mobiGlas kit will come pre-loaded with additional galactic information that new players would ordinarily need to explore or barter to fill out; it’s our way of honoring the information you’ve collected about the Star Citizen universe through the RSI site and community over the past year! Gladius – The Squadron 42 team will develop an additional fighter for the game, the Aegis Dynamics Gladius-class light fighter. The Gladius will be the first fighter built entirely from concept to CryEngine in the UK! Here’s the official description: The Aegis Gladius is the UEE’s reigning light short-range patrol fighter. A single-seat ship with no room for expansion, the Gladius is fast, maneuverable and capable of punching far above its weight. The main advantage to the design is simplicity: cheap to produce, easy to repair and outfit and quick to train new pilots on. The Gladius is an aging design nearing the end of its life-cycle, although iterative updates have kept it the most nimble fighter in the active fleet. Star Citizen - Stretch Goals - What have been delivered and what is not until the date.

Edit: No, this is not a goon list, this is not a hate list, this is not aim to demote the CiG works, is just a list about things done or in-production yet for new backers. If for you everything is hate, sorry the problem is with you. The game is complex and requires a lot of time to be done. And CiG is very open in the devellopment to know how big this project is.
Below I have listed all Stretch Goals and the actual stat from them, I really belive many CiG even must be forgot, because I do! If there something not listed or with status wrong, please be gentle and inform to me to update it :) Legend
Done: That stretch goals is finished and delivered (some need rework or in a process of rework, but you can use it already) In-production: That stretch goal is under devellopment, can not have a precise date to come, but is soon than later. Pre-production: That stretch goal already have pass for some phases of known devellopment, but actually no one knows is been worked or in wait for resources, is much possible it come later than soon. thanks logicsol Unknown: No one knows if is under actual devellopement, waiting resources, waiting for techs, gameplay mechanics, devellopers, is cancelled, etc. Just there is not new information about what phase it is now. Replaced The stretch goal has been existed but actually is cancelled and replaced for another thing with the same objective. Thanks solamyas for the tip Cancelled: The stretch goal is cancelled.

A's 2016 Spotlight: The Good, the Bad, and the Coghlan

When the /oaklandathletics mods first came to me and asked for a write-up of the A's 2016 season, I was a little confused; I was under the impression baseball ceased on July 31st, 2014, and never resumed. Well, after more research, it turns out baseball has been played since then, and the A's have been terrible. But, like, terrible in a kind of fun way? Like, you hate to watch 162 of these games, but occasionally there will be a really fun story-line or game? Anyway, here's an exploration of some of the depressing games and some of the downright fun games, and why the next couple years could change the way the A's are viewed around the baseball world.
As I'm sure most of you know, the A's made some moves in 2014 to go all in for a postseason run, and in the off-season afterward. This left our farm pretty much depleted, and without a deep postseason run to show for it. It was time for a rebuild, which is pretty new concept for A's fans. The A's have made the postseason eight times since Billy Beane assumed his role as GM, and in the years they didn't, they were middling, bordering on bad, but never truly awful. It wasn't until 2015 and 2016 that people in the 21st century saw a pretty much awful A's team. But here we are, and the rebuild is happening. We've managed to bolster our farm system in more flurries of trades, and our future actually looks surprisingly solid.
2017 Depth Chart
C: Stephen Vogt, Bruce Maxwell, Josh Phegley
1B: Yonder Alonso, Mark Canha, Ryon Healy
2B: Jed Lowrie, Joey Wendle, Chad Pinder
SS: Marcus Semien, Chad Pinder, Jed Lowrie
3B: Ryon Healy, Jed Lowrie, Mark Canha
This is actually one of the areas the A's are both currently strongest in, and an area they can also improve upon in the very near future.
Additional Write-Up of Ryon Healy by frakking-anustart
You cannot tell the story of the 2016 A’s without one of its only bright spots in Healy. Let me just get this out of the way: I’d like to formally request whatever the hell Healy’s folks were smoking whenever they named him Ryon. Hopefully it’s something whacky and crazy that modern science hasn’t even discovered yet- because that’s the only excuse for naming your son Ryon with a YO. Drafted in 2013 out of Oregon, he had two bland years as the third basemen of the Vermont Lake Monsters and Stockton Ports. In 2015, as a Midland Rockhound, Healy grounded into a whopping 21 double plays and had a (mostly) full disappointing season. The A’s decided to have him repeat AA, which is a lot like repeating a grade in primary school. Repeating the same level helped him dramatically, and he put up gaudy numbers, and was on track to being named the league’s MVP. Instead, his teammate and fellow 3B Matt Chapman won that award. “Why, you may ask?” Well, Healy put up even better numbers in AAA, and by mid-July he was up in the major leagues. When he first got to the show, he had nowhere to live. So Josh Reddick, the closest thing to a star player we had in 2016, let him crash at his place for a few weeks. Fans went wild at the upbeat story, one of the few for the A’s last year. As for what he did with his playing time last year, well, let’s just say it was a pleasure having him at the McAfee Overstock Oakland Coliseum. In 283 PA, he had a .861 OPS with 141 Total bases. His average was above .300, and his WAR was 2.2 in only 70 odd games. He was always doing well in key situations during dull games, and probably won some games we should have lost over the second half of the season. After Josh Donaldson’s unplanned departure, it didn’t look like the A’s would have another great 3B until Matt Chapman, the prospect with the massive arm-cannon and superb glove- ended up in Oakland. But Healy defied the odds, and worked his way into the future of the franchise. It is this author’s personal opinion that Healy isn’t worth talking about. He’ll bust- I was and still am pretty sure of it. I've wanted to broadcast to the A’s fanbase that it wasn’t worth getting your hopes up for- that throwing all your hope toards one unproven bat riding a hot rookie season is dangerous for your mental health. But that’s baseball and life- the failures make the successes even better. You've got to throw all your support behind a player on your favorite team- if they fail, you can bond over the despair with your peers for the rest of your fan-lives. And if they succeed, then I guess the feeling is close to watching a child grow up and kick ass- you were there in the beginning, rooting them on as hard as you could. So don’t ask me if I think Healy can repeat his 2016. I don’t know, and I sure don’t care at this point. I’m just along for the ride. Sophomore slumps are just a myth, right?
2017 Depth Chart
LF: Khris Davis, Mark Canha, Jake Smolinski
CF: ???, Jaycob Brugman, Jake Smolinski, Brett Eibner
RF: Matt Joyce, Jaycob Brugman, Jake Smolinski
Okay, so the OF outlook in Oakland is pretty dim. Brugman is our MLB-ready OF prospect, who hit .285/.347/.438 between AA and AAA last year, and can convincingly play all 3 OF positions. If the A's don't trade for a CF this winter, the CF job is his.
  • Khris Davis hit 42 home runs. I'm sure many of you know that, but it's such a good sentence to type out. He's the first Oakland A to hit 40+ dongers since Jason Giambi in 2000 (Frank Thomas hit 39 in 2006). In addition, he seems to have embraced Oakland culture, and is a wonderful dude to have on the team. May I direct you towards the Helmet Jump-Shot?
  • Josh Reddick left us this season, after spending four and a half years in an A's uniform, which is a pretty long time for Oakland. He gave us so many things over the years, be it a Gold Glove in 2012, Pie-derman, Careless Whisper, and the camaraderie with the RF bleachers crew. He will be missed for his personality, as much as his bat and glove. Why is this good? Because it means at one point we loved, and that means that we're capable of loving again.
  • First-Half Jake Smolinski secured the CF job once we moved Coco to LF/DH, and once we learned Billy Burns had forgotten how to play baseball. Smo was an A's farm-hand, but was an intriguing player who always seemed to tear up AAA. His first half peaked when he OPS'd 1.142 in June.
  • Second-Half Jake Smolinski was bad. A tale of two seasons, really. After staying up and keeping the CF job, he only OPS. .586 after the ASB (a dismal .319 in September). He's a platoon player, and flew too close to the proverbial sun that is being an everyday player.
  • Coco Crisp, another long-time and beloved Oakland A, left us this year. Though he (shockingly) remained healthy, he remained a liability both at the plate and in the field, as his age and neck issues prevented him from being the player he once was. Off the field, there was drama surrounding his 2017 option, worth $13 million. Crisp accused the A's of benching him to keep the option (based on PAs or games appeared in) from vesting. When he was traded to Cleveland to chase a ring, Smash Mouth took umbrage.
  • Danny Valencia, Clubhouse Concuss-er, terrible fielder, smasher of baseballs moved to RF after Ryon Healy stole his 3B job, and that wasn't pretty. Though the number weren't terrible, he just didn't have the range or instincts to be even an adequate RF candidate. But his bat needed to be in the lineup.
  • Chris Coghlan also appeared in both RF and LF for the A's in 2016. He had a 66 wRC+ (including his time with the Cubs) and OPS'd .487 in Oakland.
2017 Bullpen:
CL: Doolittle, Hendriks
8th: Madson, Dull
MR: Axford, Coulombe, Neal, Wahl (?)
The A's bullpen in 2015 was absolutely atrocious. All I really need to say is the Edward Mujica was our closer at one point. Needless to say, the Front Office made the bullpen a priority, and their moves mostly worked.
  • After being sidelined most of 2015 with shoulder injuries, Sean Doolittle is back. While he's still struggling to stay consistent, the fastball, with all its velo, ha returned, and he looks to be an effective late-innings reliever (if not a closer) with a 10.4 K/9, and a 5.64 K/BB ratio.
  • Jesse Chavez for Liam Hendriks. What a great trade. Hendriks struggled with lots of seeing-eye ground balls and all-around bad luck, as well as injuries, in the first half. All in all, though, he ended 2016 with a 2.85 FIP and 9.9 K/9 and 5.07K/BB ratio. With a slightly-improved offspeed pitch, he's a good bet to be our closer in 2017.
  • The rookie Ryan Dull emerged as one of our better and more-consistent relievers. He began the year by stranding the first 34 runners he inherited, which set an MLB mark going back to 1961, when records of this stat began. He ended up stranding 45/52 inherited runners, and held a 2.42 ERA, .874 WHIP, and a 4.87 K/BB ratio. He's a great Fireman, and a good late-innings option.
  • Ryan Madson is not a closer anymore. After signing Madson to a 3/$22 deal, he looked to be our closer for the year. All in all, he wasn't a terrible reliever, but he also blew 7 saves. He's a guy you'd feel comfortable giving the ball to in the 7th or 8th innings, but that's just not how he was used, and we suffered for it.
  • John Axford can't stop walking people. 4.1 BB/9 is too high for a reliever, especially when you can't consistently throw anything besides a fastball for a strike, which leaves hitters sitting it. Still a good option for low-leverage situations, and $5 million isn't a lot to spend on him.
  • Again, injuries caught up with us, here. 5 relievers spent extended time on the DL, with two of them needing TJS.
  • Chris Coghlan posted an OPS+ of 35 with Oakland in 2016, as well as a 3.61 K/BB ratio.
Starting Pitching
2017 Depth Chart:
Guaranteed a spot: Sonny Gray, Sean Manaea, Kendall Graveman, Jharel Cotton.
Fighting for the fifth spot/AAA: Andrew Triggs, Frankie Montas, Daniel Mengden, Raul Alcantara, Zach Neal, Dillon Overton.
The bread and butter of any good Oakland A's team has always been the Starting Pitching. Our pitcher development has fairly consistently been able to churn out great results. The most recent incarnation of that is most likely going to be on display in 2017.
  • Kendall Graveman has been a stalwart in an injury-tattered rotation. Yes the Donaldson trade was lopsided, but Graveman has still been pretty good with us, and has shown steady improvement. A severe groundball pitcher, Graveman was able to hone his game more this year and range from really, really good (throwing a Maddux against the ChiSox) to only being pretty bad at his worst. His ceiling is a 200-inning, back-end pitcher, and he's not likely to disappoint.
  • Sean Manaea debuted in April this year, earlier than many expected, again due to injuries. As a top pitching prospect, our expectations were high, and after a very rough April and May, things began to turn around. Manaea held a 2.67 ERA across 77 innings post ASB, and had a very nice rookie year in whole with a 3.68 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 3.35 K/BB ratio. He looks to be a nice #2 option behind a (hopefully) healthy Sonny Gray.
  • Jharel Cotton, the least-heralded of the three players acquired from the Dodgers for Rich Hill and Josh Reddick, was the first to debut with the A's. In September, Cotton started 5 games, pitching 29.1 innings to the tune of a 2.15 ERA, .185 BAA, and .82 WHIP. His numbers may change across the course of a full season, but his changeup is truly a fun pitch – it has the ability to float anywhere in the zone, and immediately drop away from hitters, leading to strikeouts like this. Also, look at that huge grin as he runs off the mound!
  • Andrew Triggs was a very interesting experiment. After being DFA'd by the Orioles to make room for Pedro Alvarez, the A's pounced on the side-arm slinger with great career MiLB stats. Again, due to injuries, Triggs was called up – first as a reliever, but then he slowly transitioned to a long-reliever, and eventually a starter. His 2016 splits are odd: as a reliever, he had a 5.58 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 30.2 IP, but as a starter, he had a 2.81 ERA and a .74 WHIP in 25.2 IP. With good peripherals, and a funky delivery/arsenal, he's an interesting guy to watch, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him nab the #5 spot out of Spring Training.
  • Sonny Gray was one of the worst qualified pitchers in 2016 (min. 100 IP). That's an incredibly tough sentence to type out. A 4.67 FIP,1.5 WHIP, and multiple stints on the DL do not a good year make. The weird part is that the velocity was fine, and he even had flashes of classic Sonny. The hope is that this was a weird outlier year, and he'll return to form next year.
  • We gave multiple starts to Erik Surkamp, Zach Neal, Ross Detwiler, and Dillon Overton. Again, injuries were a huge problem for the A's pitching staff, shown in the fact that we put FOURTEEN different starting pitchers on the DL at some point throughout the year.
  • Chris Coghlan hit .059 with an OPS of .170 against LHP with the Oakland A's in 2016. He got intentionally-walked once.
Like I said, the A's farm was pretty barren after we shipped away Addison Russell, but the turnaround has been pretty quick. We now have a whole slew of promising young players, a majority of which were drafted by us even, who could see time in Oakland within the next couple of years.
  • Matt Chapman (ETA 2017) is a gold-glove caliber 3B with a cannon for an arm (hit upper 90's in college), who also has a plus power stroke. He won Texas League MVP in 2016, despite playing the last month of the season in AAA. He looks to take over the 3B job ASAP, likely in the middle of the season, barring injuries or an mind-blowing spring.
  • Franklin Barreto (ETA 2017) was the main return for Josh Donaldson, and he is doing a fine job easing the pain of losing JD, all things considered. Though he was one of the youngest players in A+ last year, and AA this year, he had no problem consistently producing at the plate, with good stolen base numbers and decent pop. He's also expected at some point this year.
  • Frankie Montas (ETA 2017) was another piece acquired for Hill and Reddick. As a starter, he can work the upper 90's late into games, occasionally going above 100mph with his fastball, paired with a wipeout slider. There are concerns about his command, and him sticking as a starter. Worst-case scenario, you have a reliever who throws 100+ with two good pitches.
  • Daniel Gossett (ETA 2018) is an Oakland draftee out of Clemson who broke out in 2016, going all the way from A+ to AAA throughout the season, ending with a 2.69 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 153.2 innings across all three levels.
  • Bobby Wahl (ETA 2017/2018) was drafted as a starter, but soon became one of the A's premier minor league closers. He helped the Midland Rockhounds secure championships in both 2015 and 2016 with a fastball that can sit in the upper 90's and a sharp breaking ball. With this mix, and a K/9 of nearly 11, there's a good chance we'll see Wahl closing in Oakland sometime soon.

Other things
We had a new member join our flock, this year. AthleticsOfficial became an active member of /oaklandathletics, providing an insider perspctive on many aspects of A's baseball, as well as providing great content (like AMA's from Bob Melvin, GM David Forst, Stephen Vogt, Sean Doolittle, and Ryon Healy). We're so grateful that the organization has taken an interest in our community, and hope to build a relationship from there.
/oaklandathletics Post of the Year candidate: wilsonwarren aks for input on his 400m training program.
After years of stagnation and Blue Ribbon Committees, the Oakland ballpark situation looks to actually be heading in a direction. The minority owner and managing partner, Lew Wolff, divested of his shares, allowing silent partner and majority owner John Fischer to take over. With the hiring of Dave Kaval, who was responsible for getting the San Jose Earthquakes their new stadium, as the new President of the A's, there appears to be real progress for the first time in years. Kaval has held public “office hours” to hear out fans on issues regarding the current stadium, ideas about the new ballpark, and more. In addition, FanFest is being held at Jack London Square this year, close by to Howard Terminal, which is one of the front runners for the new site of the ballpark. Combine this with the Oakland City Council approving the Raiders' proposition to build a new stadium on the Coliseum land (allotting 10% of it for the A's *eye roll*), and a new location and ballpark seem imminent.
Bill King, the long-time and beloved voice of the A's, Raiders, and Warriors was finally awarded the Ford C. Frick award, cementing his much-deserved place in baseball history.
We're most likely going to be paying Billy Butler $10 million to sign with another team for the veteran minimum in 2017, and our bitch asses aren't gonna do anything about it.

TL;DR – Rich Hill hit Adam Eaton with the first pitch of the season.
