🌻👑⚙️Reddit's Drag Race All Stars 2 - Episode 1: "Lean Green Queening Machines" PART 1⚙️👑🌻

The backing track of Rain on Me starts playing as shots of the new workroom play in a short montage. The clacking of heels can be heard getting louder and louder as the camera zooms in on the entrance archway.
Creolla Azzedine is the first to walk into the werkroom, stopping in a tea stand pose, head slightly down, with one feet gracefully behind the other and goes “ ¡ ZAZ ! ” cutting the air with her finger. She stands, pointing finger high in the air, a very strong pose facing the camera and, giving shoulder, she turns around, shows a little butt, resting her arm on her waist while inclining the huge hat just a little down, looking over her back with an mischievous expression. She then pops a leg and poses to the camera.
Latex chaps that grab tight to her thighs and make them pop out, so juicy, her waist is cinched, her hat is huge, this design is very Mugler.
She’s wearing a little black bolero with long sleeves; black ruffles on her chest, a long drape of satin goes around her head and flows behind as she walks. Her head is in this cotton mask that shows off just the face shape and has one circular cut for the eye. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZBQ81xYkIJlDowqcIpIp7hpjmXBnbRqRd8mDO0JxedE/edit
CREOLLA’S CONFESSIONAL: “My entrance is inspired by the legend of Zorro! I’m bringing latin reference, minimalism, chic, vintage and new age with defined angles and cuts, sharp lines everywhere. I’m living my best fantasy and ready to cut a bitch out!”
---
The sound of a motorcycle engine revving can be heard as Cass drives through the werk room in her lovely yellow motorcycle, she speeds around the contestants in the corner of the room like a sheepdog rounding up the sheep before driving back to the entrance of the werk room. She parks in front of the entrance and gets off the vehicle and stands in front of the camera, holding the severed head of David Carradine (Bill) in one hand and her long katana in the other. She drops his head to the ground and removes her motorcycle helmet “Bill’s dead so now who’s next to be Cass-trated?” *Swings Katana* . http://imgur.com/a/xyRjtPi Cass’s look is inspired by Kill Bill’s very own Uma Thurman in her iconic yellow jumpsuit. She wears the iconic yellow latex jumpsuit which is now covered all over with blood and bullet wounds. Her blonde hair and face is also covered with dark red blood. With her she brings her long silver katana, a matching yellow motorcycle helmet and the severed head of Bill (which for legal reasons is fake).
CASS-TRATED’S CONFESSIONAL: “Hello my name is Cass-trated and I came to chop through the competition . . . LITERALLY! I’m your lovely forgotten contestant on S3, yes I was there! And now I’m here to finally be remembered and make some type of impact.
Cass and Creolla give each other friendly hugs as they look around the renovated workroom. “It’s all happening!” Says an excited Creolla.
---
The next girl struts confidently into the werk room and hits her mark, putting her right hand on her hip, forming a physical visual of the Singapore Flag with her look (like Bob with her entrance look). “That bitch Cass left me on the damn moon, but whatever, the pride of Singapore is BACK!!!!” yells Anita Dragname.
CREOLLA’S CONFESSIONAL: “I gotta say I’m pretty impressed by Anita. I also know she is pretty impressed by me so I can respect and see her as competition.”
Referencing Anita’s last challenge before she yeeted out of the sub and her country of origin, Anita wears a replica of the Totally Spies Superspy Suit; a red, skin-tight latex catsuit with metallic silver installations on her shoulders, side of the knees and elbows. Just like the original, there are 2 “tones'' to the suit. The sides of the suit that goes from under her pits to her ankles are matte red and slightly darker to act as a “body contour”, while the rest of the suit is rhinestoned, adding a little iridescence and contrast. The full length of her right sleeve, however, is full white. In the middle of the Superspy Suit, 5 white stars can be found placed in a circle, on top of her D-cup breasteses. She has on matching white shin-length gogo boots with a chunky heel that glows a bright, neon white when they are activated.
Her hair is a big, blown out ginger quiff (think Trinity Taylor’s Naughty Nighties) that goes up to about 10 cm above her scalp. It is huge, thick and voluminous and ends right at her shoulders. White glitter comes out of the roots of her hair and extends outwards into the hair creating an ombre effect of shiny glitter and the bright ginger. Her makeup is her signature beat; high-arched graphic brows in a dark brown, soft, blended contours, double-stacked 301s, smokey eyes and a silver glitter lid. She uses cute little silver star stickers as “freckles” on her face. She finishes off her mug with a pop of colour in a bright red to match the concept of her look.
ANITA’S CONFESSIONAL:Assalamualaikum semua, my name is Anita Dragname and she’s back……….. for some of that good tex-mex they serve for breakfast. I’m back with the drive to perform rigorous CPR to this sub and give it the revival it so desperately needs. I’m hoping to have a good time and have some fun with the dolls! A crown along the way wouldn’t hurt, would it?”
---
The next queen walks to the centre of the entrance way and pauses for a few seconds; she places her hands on her hips and gives a confident smirk on her face. She walks to her mark, and with her hands on her hips, she says: “As smooth as silk … as rich as Velvet.” Amelia Velvet turns several times while moving her hands in various posing positions around her face. She looks towards the other girls and smirks.
Amelia is wearing a rich, ethereal, one piece garment - a short cocoon dress with a built in floor length cape. The whole garment is in a light shade of baby blue, and the fabric is a slightly rigid, rich radzimir. The piece has two cutouts for her arms to slide out. Her wig is a shoulder length dirty blonde piece. It is wet looking and slicked back, as if she has just run her fingers through it to push it back. Her face is beautifully painted. Her jaw, cheeks and nose are contoured harshly as per usual. Amelia’s brows are highly arched and her eye makeup blends from a glittered silver to a baby blue on the upper lid, with the baby blue blending round to the bottom lid. At the outer corner of each eye, there are three tiny jewels glued on closely together to make a small triangular shape. These are the same jewels used on her embellished gloves, only smaller ( 5mm each). Amelia’s lips are a beautiful plump nude colour, with a light layer of clear silver glitter on top. Her highlighter is very visible and also has a touch of silver glitter in it. A rope pulls Amelia’s waist in, and her breasts are unpadded, though through the keyhole cutout, contouring is visible. Her hips and bum are padded generously. Her pumps are of the same colour as the garment, only they have a glossy, shiny tinge. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10LQhZcpBV5UCK5nxBKBugDo9qlpyhrre-_csAssrJGc/edit
AMELIA’S CONFESSIONAL:They must’ve been desperate for girls if they called me, but bitch, I’ll take it! Hey loves, it’s Amelia Velvet from Season 5 where I finished in tenth … well bitch at least it wasn’t last. I’m so excited to be back and show how much I’ve grown, especially with all these season 5 girls here - I’m here to prove to them that I was robbed and that I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve. Since my season, I’ve gained a greater appreciation for drag and learnt to trust my instincts a lot more. Let’s see how that plays out - it’s probably going to be a shit show, but bitch, you’ll be entertained!”
Amelia looks around to see the other girls lounging about, she runs over to introduce herself and kiki.
AMELIA’S CONFESSIONAL: “I’m super excited to see Anita here. I’m pumped to be able to prove that I can hang with the likes of her.”
---
Lu runs into the werkroom, all frantic, wearing a jumpsuit made out of leaves with gold accessories, twigs on her wet brown hair, looks to both sides, sighs and says “I finally got past through security”. She then regains composure, removes the twigs of her hair, takes out the sunglasses she hid in her cleavage and poses.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lYHPgdcrKKAj3OsynEIafe5qu6wecoBDp_FFdcK6l6k/edit
After posing, Lu looks at the girls and says: “I wish I known this was happening sooner, I would have trimmed my lady bush.”
LU’S CONFESSIONAL: “Hi everyone! It’s me, Lu! I’m so excited to walk into this werkroom and compete again! Back on season 5, I had 0 experience and I overthought too much and got stuck in my head a lot so I feel very excited to see what I can do with a better headspace. The possibilities are endless! Season 5 felt like an All Stars season so I’m a bit nervous to actually compete in an All Stars season, not gonna lie, but this time I’m more sure of myself and I know I can bring my A-Game to every challenge.”
Lu doesn’t seem to immediately click with the other girls, being a more quiet queen, but she still manages to laugh along with the group.
---
The next queen struts in lightly letting her coat follow her, and simply says ‘All Stars 2 bitches, let’s get relevant!”
Aurora Borealis walks into the werk room in a very genderfuck/more casual look. She has on a cashmere cheetah print button down shirt. The sleeves are cut midway before the elbow, and are quite baggy, but on the actual torso, it is stretched down and tucked into the pants fabric. The top two buttons are unbuttoned, which shows a little bit of chest hair, nicely groomed and very thin. It is a light brown, but nothing light enough that it wouldn’t be seen. Out of a chest pocket hangs a small black handkerchief, that only goes slightly below her chest. Now, the pants are high-waisted vibrant bright red bell bottoms that end slightly above the ground. The vibrant colors of the cheetah print and the bright red pop against each other to create an interesting contrast. Underneath, she has on black platform shoes, where only the very bottom of the shoe is shown. Overtop the entire outfit, she has a large suit jacket coat that extends to the bottom of her ankles. The outside of it is bright red, but on the inside is a solid jet black. When she moves, it floats behind her, only staying completely still on the shoulders. She holds a small red clutch with a bright gold circle right in the middle, with gold lacing and lining around it. Her nails are simple, light brown and short, adding just a slight addition of detail. Aurora does not have a wig on, rather has her curly dark brown hair that hangs above her head with clumps of hair solidly formed. Her makeup is simple, a soft dark red on her eyeshadow, blended with white, and just giving a soft look, with small lashes, and a light nude lip. However, she has a lot of blush on her cheekbones and nose giving a ‘flushed’ look, and she drew freckles on her nose and cheeks. This is her whole look, and it’s blending in her ‘drag’ side, and the person she is outside of when she performs.
AURORA’S CONFESSIONAL: “My name is Aurora Borealis, the first out from season 4! I’m just here to have fun and hopefully not submit later xoxo.”
CREOLLA’S CONFESSIONAL: “Aurora did a good job. I see improvement.”
---
The clicking of heels echoes throughout the werkroom, drawing the other queens attention towards the entrance, as a tall figure turns the corner and struts her way forward.
Satina is wearing a skin-tight burgundy latex dress with a jewel neckline. The dress is cut down to her knees, showing off a bit of leg, before ending the ensemble with a pair of 6 inch black pumps. Across the front of the dress is a cut-out showing of most of Satina’s stomach and a bit of underboob from the queen’s breastplate - the trim of the cutout lined with black triangular jewels, giving the cut-out the appearance an open mouth eating away at Satina’s snatched body. Satina wears a slightly lighter shade of foundation, than what would normally fit her, and the queen’s facial features have been heavily carved out with an extensive use of dark contour. Her eyes consist of black smudged eyeliner, highlighted by some Scarlet red eyeshadow with a bit of red glitter mixed in. Her cheeks have been painted with a light pink rouge and to finish of the looks is Satina’s signature overdrawn lips topped with a Scarlet red matte lipstick. A long black wig styled into a small slicked-back pompadour on top rests upon Satina’s head a reveals 2 tiny red horns poking out from the queen’s scalp. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DVzYRI8Ryq-cJtgr3ps9gdC-p-flTCqfOQIMYVqT_0g
As she reaches her mark, Satina does a few quick spins, showing off the open back of the dress held together by black lace - A long scaly and slightly greasy serpentine tail is poking out through the laces, and now sweeps across the floor as the queen finishes her spinning. Satina lifts a black and red Devil’s pitchfork to the air, almost triumphantly, as she looks into the camera:
“Here to raise hell on Earth - All hail Satina!”
SATINA’S CONFESSIONAL: “I’m home! Hey y’all - I'm Satina. Season 5’s salty queen, the “reigning Miss robbed” and a lovely (mumbled) alternate for crown! I am here to show these bitches that Satina is a force to be reckoned with… Actually you know what - Cut the check already, Thank you!”
“You look so good girl! Nothing like you used to...” says Lu. “Nah, just kidding. Get in here girl!”
SATINA’S CONFESSIONAL: “Even though it’s nice to know so many queens already, it’s honestly a bit scary competing with so many of my Season 5 sisters, seeing that a lot of these have already beat me once… Allegedly at least…”
---
The next girl pops in, a little shy at first but finds her confidence to deliver her opening catchphrase: “Well….let’s just try this again you bunch of bastards!” says a seductive Heather Bouvier.
She is wearing a houndstooth print bodysuit, with a leather peplum skirt and top. Leather fingerless short gloves. Also has her houndstooth earrings, arm bands, and shoes! To top it off (literally) she has got her houndstooth couture hat, complete with a little veil hiding part of her face (I’m prematurely mourning for some of you bitches. Black white Makeup, with a houndstooth lip and snatched black bun <3. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N-VFoypSSmofBk-n164heEdgJYeUaBRgrOqMcGz55EA/edit
HEATHER’S CONFESSIONAL: “Hey hey! My name is Heather Bouvier, I am 23 years of age, and I am from Los Angeles! You may know me from the SPICE Pageant….all 2 episodes of it, but I am back to take back the crown I was robbed of! My drag is very fun, campy, but that doesn’t mean I can’t turn some high fashion lewks. I’m ready to show y’all just what Heather has in store!”
CASS-TRATED’S CONFESSIONAL: “Heather is jumping out because I don’t know her and don’t know what she can do so I’m really intrigued to see what she’ll bring… or not.”
---
Princest slowly struts into the room. She is wearing what appears to be a fat suit with a two piece silver bikini. Her quadruple Ds wanting to slip out of her top.The stretch marks on her stomach appeared to be stoned as they shimmered under the light, even with some of them on her thighs too. Her stiletto heels were a soft gold to go with her bikini set. We then shift to her face; her makeup was very simplistic. Blue eyeshadow, a cat eye liner, thick lashes, contoured cheeks and pink lips. Her eyes were a sapphire blue. She also wore a 22 inch blonde wig that reached to her ass. Princest then stood in a basic supermodel pose with her hands on her hips and a big smile. She looked around, confused with her surroundings. "This isn't 'The Biggest Loser'!" She shouted, starting to tear off the fat suit to reveal her bloody red anatomy in a full body suit that resembles her insides. Her vital organs shined in the light as she smirked. "God, that feels a lot better."
PRINCEST’S CONFESSIONAL: (Princest's confessional look was a cute brown pixie cut with soft makeup. She was wearing a black graphic t-shirt as she smiled.) "Hey everyone, Princest has risen from the dead! It has been way too fucking long since season 5, and I came here to win for once. I just hope I can impress everyone for once."
---
Miss Fey walks in wearing a ballerina-inspired gown, with a white bodice and tail, green middle-piece and red tulle overlay. (SKETCH + REFERENCES: https://imgur.com/a/voYZdoa)
She walks en pointe, moving ethereally. The red tulle covers her bare legs. She stops and says: “Can you feel the fantasy? Because I can!.... or it could just be the hookah.”
FEY’S CONFESSIONAL: “مرحبا! I’m Fey-Té Bill Hate, the incredibly funny and sexy drag queen that finished 3rd on RDR S5. My entrance look pays tribute to 2 things: the Lebanese flag (red, white and green) and the first time I walked on the runway I was in a ballerina dress! I’m excited to show off my growth, but most importantly, I’m excited to have fun! Let’s do this!”
---
When the next queen walks into the werk room she is holding a green rhinestoned apple covering her whole face. She holds it by the tip with her big, acrylic, pointy pink nails. She walks with little steps until she is in and takes the apple out of her face revealing her mug. Her eyeshadow is a gradient of greens from darker to lighter with glitter on the end and green long lashes too. Her lips are also light green and are covered in glitter like she just bit the apple she is holding. After a smile she turns the apple showing that it has been bitten and says: “One apple a day keeps this bitches away”.
Sardonyx’s look is a drag version of René Madritte’s painting “The Son of Man''. For this she is wearing a bright pink, fully rhinestoned bowler hat on top of her head. Underneath she is wearing a monet-style apple green pussycat wig. The main garment is a matching bright pink long overcoat with glitter on the lapels. The buttons of the coat are of a clearer pink with glitter on them. The top of the overcoat is wide with shoulder-pads and slowly narrows on the waist. The bottom part, which arrives almost to the knees, has a line with brighter pink and glitter in the same shade that the buttons and the lapels. Inside the coat, she has on a plain, white shirt like the one on the painting with a pink tie with a glittery S to sign the whole thing. For the bottom part of the outfit she is wearing pink pants with the same lining as the coat, with the lighter pink stripe. The shoes are some simple, glittery, pink pumps that obviously match, the bottom part of those is from the bright pink.
SARDONYX’S CONFESSIONAL: “I wanted to do something a little different from what I usually bring so... just for you to know… THIS IS ART MAWMA. But in all seriousness, this is my way of saying that drag is fun, and drag is art, so let’s make art fun for everybody.”
CREOLLA’S CONFESSIONAL: “I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of crazy shit my Season 4 sister Sardonyx is about to bring. I know she has personality.”
SARDONYX’S CONFESSIONAL: “Talking with Lu was nice, she looks really friendly.”
---
Del ducks under the entrance doors. She takes silly clown steps forwards to her mark. She poses to her left, her head pointing to the camera. Del thrusts her hands forward, displaying a lavender-coloured cake atop a black cake stand. The lemon sponge is coated in a thin layer of lavender frosting, and is topped with mint-coloured (and flavoured!) chocolate shards and some white-chocolate shards too. Del holds her pose until the rabble (RE: other queens) start to give her confused looks…

"Eat it"
Del wears a lavender ghillie suit covered in unnatural lime-grass green. Her face is covered in a black mesh mask that obscures her features. Atop the mask sit a pair of white acrylic sunglasses, a white acrylic nose and moustache set, and a white acrylic dot as a beauty spot. Del's hands and feet poke out of the camouflage suit. Her hands have Lavender latex gloves on them, each coated in a brilliance of purple stones. Del's feet wear chunky lavender pumps, again covered near completely in the purple stones. A black plastic tail arches up behind Del. The S-shaped appendage arcs up to between her shoulders, where the end curls in on itself 5 times. The tail holds two implements: a mint-coloured fork and a grass-coloured knife each inset with a dark lilac jewel in the base of the handle. The cutlery are crossed like crossbones. https://imgur.com/a/HoB0Dt7
DEL’S CONFESSIONAL: Out-of-drag Del grins wide. "Hi I'm Del O'Ryan. I baked this cake just to recycle an entrance line". Del puts their index finger on their temple, "Ding".
DEL’S CONFESSIONAL: “I was pretty withdrawn… cold… pressurised? During Season 5, so I’m keen to connect properly with Lu and Satina. I hate Fey with the intensity of a thousand thousand blazing suns. The entirety of human language cannot begin to express my disdain for Fey, that sniveling worm, that grunting ape, that whining dog. Fey has insulted, demeaned, and outright mocked forces beyond her comprehension, and an end shall soon be upon Fey. As we speak, the legions of Hades come against Fey, there will be no mercy, no recompense, and no respite, for her transgressions are beyond forgiveness, and she will answer for them. Eternal torment and woe be upon you Fey, lowliest of fools, weakest of queens, dirtiest of filth, for oblivion's embrace is beyond you.”
---
The camera starts shaking a little and thundering and scraping noise is heard as yet another queen approaches the werkroom. The queens present turn their heads at once in time to see a menacing figure appear in the doorway. Enter Marianna, her hulking muscle(suit) covered head to toe in green body paint. She is clad in a barbarian orc warrior outfit, consisting of a black wool brasserie with silver stitching, and a napier tartan wool skirt reaching just above her knee. The skirt and the bra have two silver rings which are attached to a light grey asymmetrical fur cloak. The ring on her bra also has two straps which reach up to a fur epaulette with three spikes, which rests on her opposing shoulder. She also wears brown leather almost-knee-high boots with steel greaves. Her hair is silver and the first foot of it is tied into a spiked mohawk with the rest allowed to fall freely. Her look is accentuated with two tusks on her lower jaw (https://sun9-9.userapi.com/c858336/v858336326/c22c7/4082jW17YNk.jpg - right one, obvi).
Marianna then swings the source of the scraping sound forward, which turns out to be a heavy double headed ax, and looks menacingly at the girls present. “I am just here to…” she snarls and gives a wicked grin, before continuing. “Quit” She then drops the axe and promptly stomps out.
MARIANNA’S CONFESSIONAL:Surprise bitch, bet you thought you'd seen the last of me. I'm the newly christened Marianna Toreador, the star, icon and undeniable main feature of seasons 1, 2, 3, AND season 1 redone.” Mari drawls with a lazy smile. “In the past I was known for some unconventional looks cut to her exploding alien baby, odd challenge ideas cut to Mari staring into nothingness on s2 and quitting supercut of Mari quitting, but I'm here to show that I still got it.”
“What... the fuck?” mumbles someone in a small voice after a moment of confused silence, before glancing around and emitting an eardrum-rupturing scream at the sight of Marianna smiling from the other side of the mirror, "!ϱnibbiʞ ɈƨυႱ" written in lipstick on her left. "
MARIANNA’S CONFESSIONAL: "This cast seems okay. Some strong queens,” Camera pans to Anita and Creolla, “some wildcards,” camera pans to Heather and me, “and no one seems to be filler…” Marianna shrugs, but the camera silently pans to Cass and Princest... “Hey, I said they're NOT filler!"
---
Eve Kennedy walks in backward so the other queens can’t see her face. She then spins around giving a wink and a kiss then says her entrance line: “Out of Eden and back in the competition.”
The look is a skin tight gown that goes into an off the shoulder neckline. It is in a caucasian color and made out of a stretch jersey fabric. The gown is detailed in floral patch decals of roses and green stones to match the leaves or branches. There are wraps of the floral print that go around the arms up top and also around the bottom of the gown. The hair is a blonde wig slicked back with a second stacked wig on the top. The separation is hidden by a matching rose headpiece. The look is finished off with a red high heel. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-uw5NMT7fH7ItYj4fJbscHPa8YsMaQ2ciXHGN813ROk/edit#
EVE’S CONFESSIONAL:Hello it’s me Eve Kennedy, that bitchy 1 from season 5. You might remember me for winning 2 challenges, being a double shante, & my infamous exit but don’t worry I’m here for the long haul this time. I’m just a bad bitch top looking for some other hoes to bottom. I wanna win.”
LU’S CONFESSIONAL: “This is really an All Stars cast. There’s a lot of pressure to do good, especially when I’m competing against queens like Eve and Creolla.”
MARIANNA’S CONFESSIONAL: “From the girls collected I immediately recognised several people: a) Anita, who is perhaps the strongest contender here and definitely the one to beat, b) Cass, who I've been friendly with since Season 3 and c) Eve who shat on me and Bella on Queens of Code and that kinda stained my perception of her. Whether we can get that resolved or not remains to be seen, but I'll be watching her with great interest. I’m the star of the show, okay, THE A-list extra.”
EVE’S CONFESSIONAL: “I wish Diana was here honestly cause she and I were kiki queens together. The girl who captured my attention most was Creolla, she had the most charisma of the girls that I’m just now meeting in this setting.”

The Ramifications of Valve’s Upcoming Trade Holds

Or how Valve just screwed over the little guy.

The Facts

Starting December 9th 2015, any Steam user who is trading away an item must have the Steam Mobile Authenticator (SMA) activated or the trade will be held for 3 days by Steam. If one user cancels this trade, then that user will undergo a “trade cooldown” of one week.
Activating the SMA is the sole way in which to avoid trade holds. This means that the following groups will be forced into 3 day trade holds:
Steam trading is mostly made up of the following users:

The Ramifications

The Bots
The first thing that’s going to happen is that most bots will be slowed or shut down while their owners determine what their next step will be. Charity bots and some small convenience bots will probably be able to handle trading with users who have trade holds, so long as their operators are dealing with a small enough number of bots that they won’t mind having to log them in through the SMA whenever Steam goes down. Of course, that’s assuming those bot owners are able to use the SMA in the first place; any bot owner who can’t use the SMA will undoubtedly have to take their bots down.
Beyond just users potentially losing convenient tools and simple methods of donation, the loss of bots is posed to have a devastating impact on the competitive gaming communities that generate interest in their game through betting sites (CS:GO lounge, Saloon.tf, etc.). Betting sites will have to lock out all betting or betting for users with holds 3 days before events go live, meaning they’ll lose the “hype” participants who bet as a match nears. What's more, those who placed bets but are then locked out will be unable make decisions or calculate odds using the most current team and roster information available. If these betting sites aren’t able to somehow adapt to Valve’s changes, entire communities will face a significant loss of advertisement as well as casual participation and interest.
Everyday Users & Serious Traders
So the bots have taken a bit of a hit. To many users this isn’t a very big deal, as lots of people only use Steam trading casually. They might just want to complete a card badge, change their TF2 hat, or give their friend a Christmas gift. Small little trades that will only be minimally impacted by trade holds, right?
Unfortunately, that's not the case.
Let’s start with the least of these issues, the giving of gifts between friends. Say it’s your best friend’s birthday and you want to give them the sparkly Pyro hat they always wanted. If you don’t have the SMA activated you’re going to have to either trade them their gift three days before their birthday or three days after. And good luck to you if you remembered their birthday on the day of…
Say goodbye also to giving friends, teammates, or random servergoers a weapon or item they need, since usually the need for that is immediate.
But all that’s little, inconvenient stuff compared to what’s about to hit the world of Steam trading.
You know how being poor sucks? Well, on Steam it’s about to get even lousier.
Go back and read through which users will end up with trade holds. You’ll note that, for the most part, it’s full of users who—more likely than not—are struggling with money. Most people without smart phones don’t have them because they or their family can’t afford them. The smart phones with operating systems that the SMA doesn’t support tend to be on the lower end of smart phone prices. Additionally, many people who live in areas with bad cell phone coverage or in countries that Valve doesn’t offer phone support to tend to be struggling economically too.
So we’ve established that non-Steam Mobile Authenticated (non-SMA) users are more likely poorer than those who are able to use the SMA. Why is that important? Because of what’s going to happen to trading.
Up to this point, traders, various websites, and even Valve have done their best to shut down or label trade scammers. Now, in the wake of the SMA and trade holds, people are going to put together sites to track non-SMA users
Why would they do that and why is this a big deal?
Most traders, especially big ones, aren’t going to want to waste their time waiting for trade holds to go through. Having inventory tied up slows down profits and makes it more difficult to keep up-to-date recordkeeping. Waiting for the three day non-SMA users is an inconvenience most traders are going to want to bypass. So, a database will be put together where traders submit evidence of who has the SMA enabled and who doesn’t, and this will be coupled with plugins that make it very easy for traders and bots to see if the person they’re trading with has the SMA activated or not.
Here’s the fallout of a database like that existing:
Keep in mind that, unlike scammers, non-SMA users can’t just change accounts to avoid tracking.
So now, the Steam users who probably have the smallest wallets have to wait 3 days for their trades to go through, they’re wading through trades in order to find traders who will trade with them, they’re probably paying a premium price for their trades, and their account has become a bigger target to account hijackers. There can’t possibly be any other downsides the poor of Steam have to deal with, right?
Just take a moment to release a sad little laugh because of course there’s more.
Up until now many Steam users who can’t afford to add cash to their Steam wallet have been able to buy their games or in-game items via by turning over small profits through many, many trades. These users make up a large part of what can be considered “medium” traders, i.e. traders who deal in frequent small item trades. The introduction of the mandatory SMA not only will wipe out the chunk of medium traders who don’t have the SMA (and thus depriving these poorer users of this small way to afford Steam items), but it will also take from the economy all the medium traders who find that trading with non-SMA users slows their inventory turnover down too much for them to continue making much of a profit. In other words, many medium traders won’t be able to afford cutting out non-SMA users like the big traders, but they also won’t be able to handle the reduced item turnover either—regardless of whether they opt to impose premium fees on non-SMA users or not. Ultimately, Steam trading will see a big decrease in medium traders, which will force big traders to have to deal with more small value items, which will undoubtedly result in big price hikes for previously inexpensive items.
In summation, here's what not being to use Steam's Mobile Authenticator is probably going to do to you:
And here we thought that Steam sales were the biggest punch to the moneybags Steam was a capable of.

Additional Flaws of the Mandatory SMA

Let’s stop our discussion of Steam’s poorer users to discuss what Valve has and hasn’t said in regard to the SMA and trade holds.
The most glaring omission within Valve’s Announcements and FAQ is the lack of any mention of the Steam Community Market. Unless Valve has carelessly forgotten to include their plan to restrict the Community Market for non-SMA users the way they are doing so for trades, then for some inexplicable reason selling on the Community Market won’t be restricted to any holds.
Well, I say inexplicable...
Isn’t it interesting how ONLY the method of gaining or selling items which DOESN’T profit Valve is the method being restricted?
Don’t worry poor users of Steam. You can still get your items in a timely fashion, without dealing with difficult and premium fee-charging traders...just as long as you give big Papa Valve his cut.
Think that reasoning might be a stretch? Consider too that though the mandatory-SMA-or-trade-hold system is ostensibly being implemented in the interest of account security, Valve’s announcement of it is linked with their Community Market discount for SMA users. Valve clearly wants the Community Market on the mind of both SMA and non-SMA users as they execute the change to trading.
So one of Valve’s motivations for mandatory the SMA is unquestionably to increase their own profits via the Community Market. It’s reasonable to assume, however, that they also truly hope this will result in less account hijacking and, thus, less of a demand upon Steam Support.
Ah, Steam Support. Let’s address that bit first, because you’ve been reading for a long time, and it’s always fun to be reminded of an old joke.
In the wake of the SMA announcement, one of the owners of saloon.tf encountered a problem trying to add a phone number to one of their bots and reached out to Steam Support. To the surprise of no one but naïve optimists, Steam Support had once again gotten into the good stuff (probably purchased with Community Market fees), and had no idea how to handle such a simple question.
None of the many, many issues Steam Support has will be solved by the mandatory SMAs. Valve needs to stop thinking like a small company and has to recruit a much larger, better-trained staff for support. That’s the only thing that will increase Steam Support’s effectiveness.
But won’t lowering account hijacking at least be less of a strain on Steam Support?
You’d think that , but unfortunately you’re making a bit of assumption.
Making the SMA mandatory isn’t going to reduce account hijacking, it’s going to result in users who wouldn’t normally weaken their security doing exactly that.
Programs that allow users to mimic the SMA are going to see a lot of use. Players who resort to this will be of two types:
While some of the mimic programs will undoubtedly be well-intentioned, the fact remains that many smart users will be taking a risk with their security that they normally wouldn’t, and that account hijackers now have another avenue in which to infect the computers of the vulnerable (children, new users, the uninformed, and the careless). Downloading a program to “inspect” an item might raise some red flags, but downloading one to bypass an unfair 3 day trade hold, why, that kinda makes sense…
Great Saxton Hale! They’ve taken everything. What’s Valve’s number? They don’t have a phone number?!? What kind of big company in this day and age doesn’t have a phone number? Fine, I’ll livechat with Steam Su— okay, wow, no livechat either. Guess I’ll just send a support ticket then.
So, no, the mandatory SMA isn’t going to net increase account security nor will it reduce any burden on Steam Support. In fact, there’s even a chance it could increase the burden.
Maybe right now you think you’ve spotted a flaw in the above logic. You’re thinking, well, if people are tricked into downloading a malicious program, won’t the 3 day trade holds at least save things? Unfortunately, the answer is probably not. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that Steam Support will be able to move fast enough to deal with reported hijackings within 3 days. The first issue is that it’s entirely possible that the malware WILL generate a code—the hijacker just needs to wait until it’s used to make their move (which, if they’re trading with that user, will be easy to tell). Remember, SMA codes are done for when users log into Steam, not for when they make trades.
The second issue comes directly from Valve’s explanation for how Steam Guarded accounts can be compromised: “Hijackers can use malware to gain access to your computer and login to your account using your already authorized device. Since your Steam account could be open or you have your account credentials saved, the hijacker does not need to know anything about your account to gain access.” Since the SMA is only used to login, it will be useless at preventing hijackers from trading away items from an already logged in account. This is something even users who use the SMA should pay very close attention to.
The third issue is that, assuming hijackers can’t just add a code of their own when taking over an account (which they’ll probably figure out how to do eventually) and that they aren’t already on a logged in account, non-SMA accounts don’t have any restrictions for selling on the Community Market. An account hijacker could just bulk sell everything on the market, positioning themselves to get a few choice items at a reduced price.
Now you might be thinking, but surely (I know, don’t call you Shirley), Valve’s prepared to handle hijacked items on the Market. Didn’t they put the one week no-trade no-market hold on Market purchases to give themselves one week to deal with items purchases from the Community Market?
If only.
Once again assuming that Steam Support is able to respond quickly enough, Valve is not going to be inclined to remove items from the inventories of multiple legitimate purchasers. If the hijacked account had email confirmations for the Community Market enabled (and the hijacker did not have access to the user’s email to turn them off), then Valve will probably do a one-time item restoration for the account—which means that those missing items will be duplicated, and the hijacker will keep their ill-gotten gains without issue. If the hijacked account didn’t have email confirmations turned on, then the lesson learned by the owner of the affected account is an extra-tough one, and the hijacker is still able to ride off into the sunset wearing their new Unusual Holy Grail Sombrero.
And now for something completely different.
Well, at least a little different. Here’s one last flaw with the mandatory SMAs. And boy is it a doozy.
“Starting Dec 9, anyone losing items in a trade will need to have a Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator enabled on their account for at least 7 days”.
Anyone losing items
LOSING
Those gaining items without giving anything don’t have to have SMA enabled or deal with the 3 day hold. Accounts that gain items without giving anything are accounts being gifted something, trades between alts, accounts taking donations, or—and this is the big one—ACCOUNTS BELONGING TO HIJACKERS.
Can we all just take a moment to share in the craziness that is the fact that SCAMMERS DON’T HAVE TO ADD THEIR PHONE NUMBER AT ALL .
Tell me, Valve, if you’re going to insist we deal with the SMA, why on Earth wouldn’t you want the phone number of the person the stolen items are going to? Now, I might just be a simple country girl but it seems to me that having the ability to trade ban accounts by phone number could result in limiting account hijackers and even regular scammers a great deal, wouldn’t you think? Yes, you need to have a way for people to clear their phone number’s “reputation”; it wouldn’t be cool for people to have to be stuck with trade bans associated with their new phone number. But phone numbers could be used in connection with other information (IP, email, credit card, etc.) to better tie accounts to the person behind them.
Wouldn’t that conceivably block a lot of hijackers or at the very least make their lives a bit more difficult? Unless, of course, you anticipated users having to turn to mimic programs to bypass your hard-to-meet trade restrictions and are assuming hijackers will do the same. But that would imply that you’ve considered the many ramifications to your users that I listed above and that you deem them acceptable.
I mean really, Valve? I don’t want to believe that the mandatory SMA change is mainly motivated by greed, but it’s difficult to see it from other angles at this point.

What Valve Can Do

Obviously, the best thing Valve can do would be to scrap their mandatory SMA practice and to come up with a plan that doesn’t penalize their userbase so much and which won’t impact users differently depending upon their financial situations.
Yes, scammers, hijackers, and others who abuse the system are a problem, and there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Valve has had to invest a lot of time and effort combating them and cleaning up their messes. However, time and time again it’s the innocent community who has had to suffer; we’re the ones who have to deal with Steam Guard, confirmation emails, and temporary trade and market bans for every little thing in the interest of our safety. We’re also the ones who saw our beloved Steam Sale events abused and then taken away, our innocent links removed from chat, and our Support tickets massively delayed.
Please, Valve.
Please stop making the entire community bear the consequences for the bad actions of the minority.
We understand that we have to sacrifice some conveniences for the sake of security. We’re not unreasonable. But, at the same time, we’re constantly aware of the fact that good behavior is simply not rewarded. Nowhere on Steam are there perks or advantages for having a longtime established account, for having a clean record, for never having security issues.
Why is it we always have to deal with the consequences of the bad behavior of others without ever being rewarded for our own good behavior, loyalty, and the care we’ve taken with our account?
But, my aching brand loyalty and I have digressed. Here are some suggestions for how to either ease the burden of the mandatory SMA or to replace it. I suspect that the comments below this post will also be brimming with ideas.
Now, if you insist on forcing the SMA on the community, could you please consider looking into some of the following ideas?
Here’s the suggestion that would be the toughest to implement, but that could change everything if it was done right:
Yes, you’d have to have a waiting period for new items, you’d need precautions in place to deal with fluctuating items, artificial inflation/deflation, and you’d have to have a team dedicated to monitoring the economy. But just imagine how much time and effort Steam Support would be saved if the trading and Market economy was monitored in such a way.
What I’m getting at is this:
There are solutions that allow for improved security without heavily restricting (and potentially alienating) your users, Valve.
Please try working with us instead of always working against us.

What You Can Do

Speak with your words
You are the customer and Valve is providing you a service. If you are unhappy with your service, then it’s up to you to say something. You can write 4400 word essays to express your displeasure (like some silly people do), you can make smaller but relevant posts on various sites, you can chime in when others post.
You can also write to Valve themselves. I’d suggest either using the general “contact Valve” email form or reading through the Valve directory to personalize your email to whomever you feel would be best suited to listen (you could then select their email here).
Personally, I’m not going advocate everyone email Gabe Newell. Since he’s made it clear that he does read his email, I feel as though a flood of emails aimed at one person risks other important emails being lost in the shuffle. I do think this matter is an important one, and it would be great if he was aware that the community thinks so too, but I don’t think it’s acceptable for this issue to take precedence over everything he might be dealing with. That being said, I’m not your mommy. If you want to be heard, it’s up to you how you go about it.
Speak with your money
If on December 9th the trade holds go live without Valve having listened to the community, it might be a good idea for people to start a boycott where users agree not to use the Community Market for buying or selling, and to refrain from purchasing any items from in-game stores which are marketable.
Could a boycott of this manner cause a large enough loss of revenue that Valve takes notice? I’m not sure, but I do know that there’s only one way to find out.

Final Notes

Valve:
If you’re reading this, please know that I like you guys a great deal. If you had a good PR department, however, you’d be aware that discontent has been spreading amongst your loyal users for some time; it’s imperative that you start listening to us and start finding a way to reward your innocent users instead of just lumping us in whenever you roll out the consequences caused by those who took advantage. What’s more, a little more explanation when undertaking said consequences could also go a long way toward easing the transition. Currently, each change leaves all users feeling like they’re being punished, which does not help to keep your customers happy.
To those of you who’ve read thus far:
Thank you all for taking the time to read my frustrated plea of an essay. I hope that not too much of life has passed you by in the meantime. I acknowledge that some of what I’ve written is speculation on my part, but I wouldn’t share it with you if I didn’t believe there was a good chance it could happen. I’m also aware that my information or understanding of various parts of the situation could be incomplete, so please feel free to correct me. I’ll update this post with any corrections, improvements, or good suggestions made in the comments.
Also, here’s a mildly interesting picture I took of a young iguana doing Yoga. You earned it.
Finally, to those of you who are able to use the SMA, who are enjoying the Steam Market discount, and who are safe and secure behind your mobile authentication and who might not care about this issue or my massive essay:
Please know that I don’t hate you. I’m happy for you.
But I really hope you don’t lose your phone.
Tl; dr: If I could have shortened this believe me I would have. If you’re interested, I suggest you go grab a cup of cocoa and tuck in for a bit of a read.

The Ramifications of Valve’s Upcoming Trade Holds (x-post from r/Steam)

Respect the teams.

I'm very disappointed at what this community has become. I'm talking about the group of people who constantly bash on and accuse losing teams of throwing. Sometimes, it can be a close hard-fought game. Others, a complete stomp. There are even games where high-tiers get smashed by low tiers. That's the beauty of competitive play where anything can happen. That's what makes it such a thrill to watch. Well, at least it used to be.
Whenever I watch these professional matches for some exciting competition, the community always ruins it. I check the Twitch chat or match thread to see how everyone feels about the match, and guess what? They're saying things like "How is this team even in the top 10", "Never betting on them again", "xxx player is so bad". For the majority of people tuning in on these streams, it's all come down to winning or losing skins. Out of the hundreds of people spamming in the chat about their loss or win of skins, I only see a small minority of people talking about the actual ongoing match. Thinking that I was too naive, I just close the Twitch chat and the match thread. I dishearteningly watched the NCG vs. Lunatik game today, upset about how the betting community is treating the teams.
Even the people who won the bet on NCG did not talk about how good of a job the players did. All I saw was "Hey guys! I won xxx value of skins!". Inversely, people who lost by betting on Lunatik talked shit about each and every player on the team.
I took a few screenshots to allow the community to open their eyes and just see how embarassing of a chat they're making it. Treat it as a mirror and reflect on it. Take a look. http://imgur.com/a/1SKE6
Those images were just the tip of the iceberg. I can't believe people even wished for the teams to get DDoS'd. Some people even go as far as to make comments that are malicious to ridiculous extents because the team they bet on was supposedly obliged to win because their skins are at stake? What is this? A Colosseum where whoever loses should die? I think everyone has to remember that this is supposed to be a sophisticated culture where we cheer on whoever our favorites are and pat them on their backs even when they lose.
On a side note, I didn't want to bring this up, but it's in regards to the recent drama. Please stop using it against teams that are losing. It's something that hasn't been completely proven, and even if such an act exists, you won't be able to do anything about it unless the instigators stupidly give themselves away in some blatant manner. Put some trust into the teams and call it a day. You WON'T get your skins back whatever you do, unless it was a problem directly involved with CS:GO Lounge's bot system.
You can call this a rant. You can call it anything. I just want the community to WAKE THE HELL UP.
tl;dr Stop being so obsessed when it comes to skins and give both teams in each and every match the respect they deserve. Please and thank you.
NOTE: I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels vexed by all this... This is my first and final attempt to make a change and improve the experience of both the professional teams and viewers. It may be naive to think that this will accomplish anything, but hey, I just want to get the word out. Please show me your support by dropping a comment or upvoting. You have my thanks. Cheers.

[PSA] Pocket trading guide

Hi!
This is a guide for both new and experienced traders alike. It will probably be more useful to newer traders as a reference point on where to start. This guide will not give specific price guidelines, but will give good pointers to make your own trading system.
So without further ado, lets get started:
Sections
1. Introduction
2. Resources (tools of trade). Manners
3. Trading- ways to make profit and little bit of math
4. Security-IMPORTANT
5. Extras-Dates to anticipate. Investing. Betting. Tiers
6. Final words
1. Introduction
If you want to start trading as a hobby, you are at the right place. If you want to make a living off it, well, I have to tell you few things-a very low amount of people make enough to make a living and it's very hard. Don't let that stop if you are determined, I am just saying:you've been warned.
Second point I want to bring up is-invest atleast 5$. Getting profit in trading is exponential-the more you have, the more you will profit. % of profit is somewhat constant on average.
Unfortunately, this also means that the less you have, the less you will profit. So if you start with 50 cents, you will be lucky to have a dollar in 2 weeks. And you could've probably earned 20$ at minimal wage in the time you've spend trading.
Also: no trader will tell you exactly what to buy. All traders, in one way or another, are a direct competition to each other. They might offer advice etc., but they won't tell you to "buy x item, it is bringing me good profit".
Last point-invest time in trading. At first, you will probably spend more time to familiarize yourself with the prices, but half an hour of intensive trading a day is enough later on. Maybe an hour on more important dates.
2. Resources (tools of trade). Manners
There are several sites you will want to bookmark and the start of your trading adventure to help you trade.
  1. This subreddit, obviously.
  2. csgolounge.com -biggest trading site there is for CS:GO items, you will spend a lot of time here.
  3. csgo.steamanalyst.com -you can track item prices here, sorted by days, average etc. Also, it can track your inventory value (for free).
  4. steamcompanion.com -this site is useful for tracking quantities of items, supply and demand. Like steamanalyst, it also has neat graphs.
  5. csgostash.com -this site has the all the items there are in game. It is also updated really fast. You will want to look here to see which item is in which collection and what items are there. Exceptionally useful when learning.
  6. steamcommunity.com/market/ -another place you will spend a lot of time. Steam community market, the place where you convert items to Steam wallet and vice-versa.
  7. csgo.exchange -this site is useful for instantly finding the float value of your weapons. This usually correlates to how "clean" your weapon is.
Now onto manners:
  • be polite-never insult people. If someone is being rude and you don't want to trade with him-add nickname "rude" and block communication+remove from friends
  • don't beg-self explanatory-no one wants to deal with beggars
  • never say "I'm sorry"-it's a sign of weakness, and saying that automatically makes you lose any leverage you had in haggling for item price. Say something neutral if you truly were a dick-"My apologizes", "I didn't see it" etc.
  • be ruthless-add 50 traders at the time on lounge. Is he asking for 6 keys, but you are offering 5? Go ahead, add him and offer him. The worst you can do is waste a bit of time. You "smell blood" and willingness to haggle down? Go ahead. But remember-DO NOT BE RUDE AND PUSHY. Do not lowball like a maniac-you will lose respect
3. Trading- ways to make profit and little bit of math
So you have 2-3 keys and want to trade? Good.
There are 2 most obvious way to profit:
1. Buy keys from steam market. Buy items for 80-84% of their market price, from people that don't want to wait for 7 day market ban. Sell on market. Profit. There are plenty of such deals, more so on lounge (in my experience). Just don't create quickbuy threads here. It's ok on lounge everybodyDoesIt
2. Buy keys on market. Buy an item for say X keys, sell for X keys+some adds. Rinse and repeat.
Both ways will net you in average 5-10% profit. This emphasizes my point-if you are to go by the first strategy and start with 50 cents-you would get 5 cents of profit weekly. Now if you were to start with 20, that's 2$ a week. 50$-5$. You get what I'm saying.
Now, just because I said that your average profit will be 5-10%, that doesn't mean you can't increase it. Every 5th-6th trade in my experience will be more than 10% profit. Sometimes you will get 50% profit! And sometimes 3%.
Math
If you started trading, you should've expected this. If you don't want to "waste time" setting up some basic, and I do mean basic excel sheets, doing some simple calculations (+,-,/,*,%)-leave.
Ok, I see you are still here. What you want to do for starters, is setup a simple excel sheet:
Price of keys you paid for.
Number of keys <> market price to break even. This means if you pay e.g. 5 keys at 2.35$ a key, you would have to sell that item for minimum of 13.50$ on market to break even or profit. How do you get this?
price of keys * number of keys you are paying for the item / 0.87 (steam tax)
Lets say you are getting started. You want to buy an item for 5 keys and sell on market for profit. Except you don't know the price of any item.
What do you do? You put in the following search parameters on Steam community market:
  • Game: CS:GO
  • Guns-Pistols, Rifles, SMG's, Sniper rifles. You don't want to select Shotguns and Machineguns, as they are particularly hard to sell
  • Normal and ST items-this is to filter souvenirs
  • sort the price by ascending
  • click the adress bar, press right arrow until you come to the end. You will notice a part saying "p=1". This is your page number. Enter a number, say 120, to get you to page 120. Look up the price, and then reduce or increase the page number until you get to items worth 5 keys.
NOTE: You HAVE care about the quantity of the item. Items with <50 means that they will take ages to sell, and that their price is extremely variable-meaning you are gambling. You don't want to do that. E.g. I bought a Desert eagle in FN condition, but the skin was so obscure that noone bought any during the weekend.
Trading is a 0-loss art. Meaning you don't want to lose money on any trade, except in 2, maybe 3 conditions:
  • you are upgrading. E.g. you are paying 2 with 2 of those obscure pistols for a AWP Asiimov, and losing 5% of your money for an extremely "sellable" skin-it's worth it
  • you are cutting losses-trading is fairly safe, but sometimes the prices will change unexpectedly and you will have to cut your losses. DO NOT "save the item" because it "might" go up. Every second you are holding onto your item, you are not making money. It might take months for you to break even
4. Security-IMPORTANT
READ THE SIDEBAR OF THIS REDDIT. READ IT AGAIN. AND AGAIN. This is your guide to survival. You DO NOT want to go through steam support to get your items back.
AGAIN. Read the guidelines. Lose 30 minutes of your life, so you don't have to lose 3 hours of your life later on trying to recover your lost items.
Never click on links. Do not "borrow an item to a friend". Do not "sell your item on market for a lot more than it's worth". If an offer is too good to be true-IT IS in 99.9% of cases.
Again. READ THE SIDEBAR.
5. Extras-Dates to anticipate. Investing. Betting. Tiers
Market is for the most part fairly stable. That means, daily fluctuations aside, that an AWP Asiimov is worth 60$ most of the time, or around that price.
However, there are some predictable dates when the market gets "unpredictable", and there are some unpredictable dates.
Predictable ones:
  • operations. Usually 1 month or so after the current one ends. Next operation on the date of me writing this (10.05.2015.) should come any week now-maybe even next week. Prices drop for most items when the operation hits. Why? People want to sell their items to buy operation pass.
  • tournaments. Less obvious-people buy skins to bet with before major tournaments-do note that due to market restriction, this happens 7 days BEFORE the tournament (the price rise), NOT at the beginning of the tournament. Also, prices tend to fall after the tournament (people selling winnings, lesser demand).
  • other-read the Steam subreddit. Read Global offensive subreddit. Valve might make some decisions, which directly impact prices, and you have to know these to be able to react. Most recent example is the 7 day sell ban-before you could buy an item on Steam market and sell immediately (but not trade for 7 days). Now you can't sell for 7 days either
Unpredictable ones:
  • Valve usually patches the game on Thursday. This means, that if you are concerned for the price of an item-you stay up late (if you are European) to be able to react quickly to the unpredictable update. Most recent example includes adding ability to trade up Stattrak weapons which increased the prices of lower tier ST weapons by 100-200%.
  • other-these you cannot predict. Probably no one can. Most recent example includes setting the $ to indonesian rupia exchange 100 times lower than it really is, making Indonesian rupia 100x more valuable than the american dollar.
Investing
All investments are speculative. The only "true" investment is M4A4 Howl, being the only truly discontinued skin in the game.
Other investments include, but are not limited to:
  • old cases being discontinued (the most recent example being OP Vanguard)-but be careful! Newer cases which have quantities of over 400 thousand will take A LOT of time to rise in price
  • weapons for older cases which drop very rarely-they are effectively discontinued like the Howl, but CAN come back in newer operations as drops unlike Howl. Example is Desert Eagle Blaze that as a result tanked from 60$ to around 20$.
Betting
Betting is really unsafe. It requires A LOT of learning, watching and a good gut. It is probably 5x more time consuming than trading and if you spend 5 hours a day, that still doesn't guarantee profit.
Why would you want to bet? While in trading your profit is 5-10% in average, by betting you can easily have profit of more than 20%.
Tiers
There are 2 main tiers of trading. Below knife and knife trading. That doesn't mean knife trading starts at 30$, the cost of cheapest knife. That means that profit margins are bigger in knife trading, due to items being unlisted on market most of the time, and only very informed people know the prices-because price guidelines are banned.
If you are starting, stick to "below knife" tier.
If you are feeling ballsy and want to invest 100$ to start knife trading, do an EXTENSIVE research.
6. Final words
That was the guide. I hope you've learned something from it. I mentioned that no trader gives advice on exactly which item to buy, but I will give you this tip: An operation is coming soon, likely next week. Key prices are expected to fall, so buy a few when it hits. You should make some money atleast.
IF THIS GUIDE OR PARTS OF IT VIOLATE RULES, MODS CAN MESSAGE ME AND I WILL REMOVE THEM PROMPTLY
Thank you for your time.
